Fangtastic Bloody Brownies (caramel and raspberry brownies)
The fudgiest and richest Halloween-themed brownies. Oozing with pockets of caramel sauce and doused in a sweet, ‘bloody’ raspberry compote. And of course finished with a fangtastic bite of candy fangs. Watch your necks.
Ingredients:
For the Brownies:
-80g self raising flour
-2 egg
-50g Cocoa Powder
-100g white sugar
-Half a large chocolate bar
-100g Butter
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-Caramel Sauce
For the raspberry compote:
-Punnet of raspberries
-1 tbsp sugar
-1 tbsp lemon Juice
-1 tbsp water
Method:
-Chop your chosen chocolate up into smaller pieces and melt your chocolate over a bain-marie (by placing a heatproof bowl over a pan shallow filled with hot water and stirring the chocolate in the bowl till melted by the heat). I chose to use a honeycomb and nut chocolate but you can use any chocolate of your preference.
-As the chocolate melts, add the butter to the bain-marie and combine the melting ingredients.
-When the butter and chocolate have melted, add the sugar and stir to combine. Then take off the heat.
-Transfer to a mixing bowl and add in an egg. Using an electric whisk or whisk by hand, mix the egg into the wet mixture.
-Add in gradually the flour, vanilla extract and then cocoa powder continuously whisking everything together to get a silky smooth batter.
-Spoon the batter mixture into a pre-greased and lined brownie tin, spreading all the batter evenly.
-Place into a pre-heated oven(at 180 Celsius) and bake for 10 minutes.
-After 10 minutes, take the tray out of the oven and poke holes across the brownie using the end of a wooden spoon. Spoon in your caramel sauce, shop-bought or handmade, into the holes. -Place the brownie back into the oven for a further 5 minutes.
-In the meanwhile, tip out a punnet of raspberries into a saucepan and place over medium heat.
-To the saucepan add the sugar, lemon juice, and water and stir until the sauce thickens and the raspberries break down into a compote.
-Spoon over the raspberry compote onto the baked brownie and spread evenly.
-Finish by adding candy fangs onto the raspberry compote and enjoy your fudgy, raspberry, and caramel bloody brownie! Happy Halloween!
